We have over 20 years of experience working in planning, construction and project management on the West Coast. It is with much pride and gratitude that we’ve worked exclusively on Salt Spring Island for the past decade. Here are some of our favourite projects from our island home.
This 24-townhome neighbourhood is designed to provide long-term, affordable homes for island families. We were engaged by a local non-profit society to manage all aspects of the development process from visioning, financial modelling, fundraising, design, permitting and construction. We assembled a stellar interdisciplinary team who worked hard to ensure the project exceeded expectations and overcame the stigma often associated with non-profit housing. Some of the features we are proudest of include: careful building siting to maximize forest retention and create a welcoming, pedestrianized environment; generous-sized living spaces, some with large basements; solar-PV arrays and heat pumps for each home; EV chargers; drought-resistant, permaculture landscaping; and a shared Common House building for gatherings and classes.

This sweet two-bedroom home is a blend of contemporary form and more traditional finishing details. Large windows fill the entire house with forest vistas and natural light. Built-in shelving, painted interior casing and penny round tile are some of the elements the owners chose to create a welcoming, intimate and timeless interior.

We enjoyed transforming this home to be brighter and more spacious through a full interior/exterior renovation. This included adding a beautiful two-story covered deck to capture views of Weston Lake and extend the living space outside. The project also involved construction of a large workshop and a rainwater storage system the owners use to irrigate their garden.

This bright, family home is stylish and functional, with an open floor plan and large windows that maximize views of the ocean and Vancouver Island. Our favourite features include the cantilevered upper floor, the finished plywood interior, large format floor tiles and huge patio sliders.

This Southend passive house was designed to blend in with the natural surroundings. It features R-40 floors, R-56 walls, an R-70 roof, heat recovery ventilation, triple pane windows, hydronic radiant heating, solar heated hot water and a low maintenance living roof.

This mountaintop passive house was designed by a local architect. The home features R-40 floors, R-42 walls, an R-80 roof, heat recovery ventilation, triple pane windows, air source heat pump, grid tie solar array, and a metal roof for durability and rainwater catchment.·

The single level home was designed and built to showcase the spectacular views. Large windows, an open floor plan and simple finishing invite the ocean into almost every room.

We built this sweet hillside home for a family who cared deeply about creating a special place for their family and community to gather. Well considered design choices and close attention to detail during construction resulted in a welcoming, sun-filled space that is built to endure.

Perched high on a mountainside, this is a home for those who love views, gardening and entertaining. The long list of special features includes a home theatre, private gym, gourmet kitchen, grid-tie solar array, steam room and glass enclosed staircase.

This four-bedroom family home features an open-concept living space, an atrium-style vaulted ceiling, custom millwork, exposed beams, and tree top views of Trincomali Channel.
